We greeted them with a sunny bunch of bright balloons, an ode to Jackie's pending birthday only two days away, and the balloons made a great distraction for a somewhat nervous Zach.
I think Zach put his excitement level at about a 2 before our shoot began. And I can't say I blame him. Being the center of attention isn't for everyone, and Jake and I are always sensitive to that part of our clients. Many of our clients have only experienced more traditional portraits that incorporated more lighting technology than emotion. We aim to change your outlook on that completely :)
When the shoot concluded, he celebrated by picking a tiny, beautiful white flower and putting it in Jackie's hair. A symbol, indeed, that he was feeling the love while walking the park with his bride-to-be.
Jackie and Zach, you are so, so adorable together. Your love is pure, and you march to the beat of your own hearts. I am so excited for your future together.
Judy and Ben are engaged and will be married next Spring. We had so much fun with them at their sunset engagement shoot, and I love, love, love how we get to know our couples during this time. We even got to see Ben's wild side emerge as the night went on :)
Ooh, and while we had some great skies to work with here, if you want to see some really fantastic landscape & wildlife photography, you must check out Ben's website!
Joey, I just love looking at your images! They rock and so do you!!!! xoxoxo ~ Dawn
(09.08.09 @ 07:26 PM)Totally gorgeous shoot! I love gasworks, just down the street from our apt and a GREAT place for photos.
(09.09.09 @ 11:51 AM)Brian has been a friend since our days at the UW. He even stood up with Jake as a groomsman at our wedding three years ago. So when Andrea entered the picture, we just knew she was a perfect fit for him.
While we were shooting Sara and Michael's wedding this Spring, Brian told Jake and I of his plan to propose to Andrea on an upcoming trip to Dana Point. He was so excited, he could hardly contain himself. It was infectious, and we were so excited for them.
We celebrated their engagement aboard a yacht, bathed in tasty summer light, followed by some fun at the train station. Enjoy a few shots from our evening out :)
Fab photos! I love all the small details, like the wedding mag and Brian braiding Andrea's hair. . .nice work :)
(07.29.09 @ 05:50 PM)Thanks for noticing! I loved the wedding magazine too - she just happened to have it there so we though it would be fun to incorporate it :)
(07.31.09 @ 08:50 AM)I stumbled upon your blog from twitter. You got some good stuff here. Best of luck trying to land that Hawaii wedding. I have always wanted to shoot a wedding there!
(08.04.09 @ 10:54 PM)The greatest part of it all is being able to be surrounded by the love these couples and families share, and to experience these fantastic celebrations of that love. At times I feel like an intruder... like these moments are so private and so intimate, that I shouldn't be there... that they should be able to sink away and take it all in privately. But, somehow, I manage to disappear into the background and capture it. I am truly one lucky lady to be included in these moments.
I don't have time right now to give everyone a full blog post yet (but I will when I catch my breath a bit!), so enjoy a single image from each event our last few weeks.

Annie and Jyun had a very intimate wedding ceremony at a Japanese Shinto Shrine...

Sisters being oh-so-cute for me at their family shoot this past weekend!
I loved your summer update! Wow... you just keep getting better and better! Everyone here is blessed to have you as their photographer. Way to go Joey! ~ Dawn
(07.15.09 @ 11:13 PM)You have such a beautiful way of really catching a moment Joey!
(07.18.09 @ 05:30 PM)I found their playfulness so contagious during our shoot, but also discovered their passion for each other to be so genuine. Their wedding this September is sure to be full of laughter and love.
Rori & Matt, you guys are such a joy to be around... we can't even begin to tell you how excited we are for your wedding! Thank you so very much for choosing us :)

One of my favorite shots of the day...

I know this one has some major sun flare, but I just love it...

Joey- have I told you lately how amazing you are? Well, if you didn't know.. Zach and I are still obsessed with our pictures and I can't stop watching the slideshow either.. Thank you SO much for capturing so perfectly our relationship and personalities. Can't wait 'till the wedding!
(10.05.09 @ 03:18 PM)My husband started our engagement shoot with a similar level of trepidation... he really wasn't excited. By the end, he was saying "we should do this every year!" And "this is like couples therapy!" I think most people just don't know how fun it is to be themselves in front of the camera and have that moment captured forever. Yay for you!
(12.22.09 @ 04:03 PM)Thanks for that comment Kat! It's great to hear how ones point of view can be changed by just one shoot. I think they are so much fun!
