April 22, 2009 // Engagements
Liz and Jeff will be getting married on the 4th of July this year... and while a disappointed bride will be lacking fireworks at her wedding due to country club rules, the happy couple certainly shared more than a few sparks during their e-shoot just a couple of weeks ago. And we have just the footage to prove it.

A candid sense of humor complimented by a sweet closeness and passion make these two too adorable to resist. We had a day full of adventures in the park with them & learned that Liz is one of the bravest brides in town, willing to do anything for a great photo :)

And to the bride and groom - we are soooo excited for your wedding this summer! Thank you for your patience while we made these images extra-fabulous for you :) I can't wait to get started on your engagement book!!

I'm almost ashamed to put my web site link on some of these blogs I go into. Everyone I come across are so talented, very beautiful photographers. I LOVE UR work. I can only dream of shooting like you and many others. I cam across you blog from Kenny Kim. Yay! I did.
Your amazing.

I'm not quite sure how I ended up with these photos. Seriously. I came home, downloaded my 8GB Lexar Pro Compact Flash card... and these were on there?? Sure enough, to my grand (and pleasant!) surprise, I had a fabulous set of images from Courtney and Andrew's engagement shoot. Well, maybe less "tweaked" of course at first.

I am researching and very seriously considering the possibility that there may have been some photographer superhero lurking over my shoulder, shooting away inside some protective super-bubble. The suspicion is only because the special afternoon we had reserved for our beach shoot on Alki may just have been the windiest, coldest day EVER. Pretty skies though.

But somehow, I managed to switch lenses without collecting sand inside my D3, the wind resulted in gorgeous America's Next Top Model hair on the Bride-To-Be, and my lovely couple somehow felt no cold. Maybe they have super thermal skin? Or just the adrenaline of their love to protect them?

Whatever magic it was, Courtney & Andrew, thank you for braving the cold with me and bringing your love, your sense of humor, and your adorable fuzzy rescue dog Suzie to your engagement shoot. I think she enjoyed her day at the beach as well :)

I love, love, love experimenting with colors and textures. The Vintage look allows me to do just that. Sometimes I spend hours just deciding which looks go well with each photo, trying different looks until I come up with what I think works best. Here are some of my favorite wedding and engagement shots, with a special vintage treatment.

My Modern look is classified by a unique twist of color resulting in a mismatched date with reality. I have not had the opportunity to use this as often as I would like. You will see much more modern fun in 2009!

Liz Barnes:

I am so impressed with your modern style! I'd love to know how you achieved this photoshop technique.

COSA BELLA FOTO:

Thanks Erin :) I know... I have been so bad at entering my photos. It is my goal this year to do just that! And Liz - each photo is done a little differently. There is a lot of play with brightness and shadows, as well as a slight desaturation or de"vibrance" in lightroom. Sometimes I use some actions to get a more specific coloring as well.
