Chic.
Retro.
Glamour.
Style.

Bursts of cherry red splashed upon
the tabletops, bouquets, and ladies' lips.

Hints of turquoise adorned
satin bridesmaid dresses and
personalized Jones Soda bottles.

Black Chuck Taylors and smashing tuxes kept the men in sync.

Candlelight danced upon the tabletops,
among the windowsills,
and down the aisle.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow strummed sweetly from a ukulele towards the back, and
inspiration from The Velveteen Rabbit was read aloud.

And before you knew it, Rori and Matt were married :)

Guests dined and drank over
delectable bites and entrees while
family and friends gave the sweetest, sweetest tributes towards the bride and groom.
And dancing in the dimly-lit ballrom was a perfect way to continue the evening.

To the lovely bride and groom, thank you, ever so much, for including us in your day. You are both so fun and have such a great sense of style, and we cherish our new friendship with you. We are so happy for you, and you have much to celebrate. Congratulations!

The day began with thick stormy skies, splashes of rain, and a fire alarm.

Yes, the entire Suncadia Lodge was evacuating just moments after we arrived the day of Andrea and Brian's wedding. The scare was quickly attended to, and after some outdoor mingling and gossip as to what caused the alarm, everyone was allowed back inside. Wedding guests staying for the weekend ordered brunch, watched football, and drank mimosas. Rumors of a bacon incident floated amongst the crowds. And, it began to rain some more. For the first time ever, two outdoor ceremonies planned that day would have to be moved inside.

But it would take more than a little rain to damper the moods of our Bride and Groom. Our two good friends continued to get ready for their day, and Jake and I selected two spots for their first look. One if it continued to rain, and one if we dared to venture outside.

As luck would have it, the rain subsided just in time for the Bride and Groom to have their first look. We set it up at the gorgeous lookout spot on the golf course just as we had originally planned. A heavy fog loomed over the sky, making an incredible backdrop for the photos. My excited little heart did a huge jump for joy :)

Andrea and Brian's day continued on without a hitch. If ever there was a theme to this wedding, it would have to be Friends & Family. Nothing is more important to these two, and they made it obvious through every part of their day. Good friend, ahem, "Reverend" Greg, even became ordained just so that he could perform their marriage ceremony. Throughout the evening, friends and family toasted to the loyalty and dedication of these two to their friends. Toast after toast was a compliment and a true testament to just how incredibly big their hearts are.

Andrea and Brian, we are so excited that you have found each other. You truly are a perfect match and compliment each other so well. We love you and look forward to sharing in all the adventures that lie ahead :)

And, we must give proper credit where credit is due, so here's the wedding team that made this day possible!

There is a lot to be said about choosing the right photographer. But, what you may not realize is that we also go through a process of making sure we are the right photographers for our clients.

From the beginning, we knew Liz and Jeff were going to be a great match for us and our work. Already excited about our photography style, at their Engagement Shoot they gave us their complete trust & confidence, which was exactly what we needed most. And because we had such a magical shoot that day, we then earned their trust for their wedding day. And, if I do say so myself, we completely rocked it once again :)

When a client gives us their trust it allows us total creative freedom. Rather than feeling like we are trying to match somebody else's vision, Jake and I get to read the couple and create a new vision entirely for them, and this is what creates our photographs. This is where the fun and the mystery is. I am always so excited to shoot a new couple. I always am confident that I will love the end result, but discovering what kind of shots we will get is so suspenseful. The adrenaline the hours before a shoot feels very much like Christmas Eve, wondering just what will come of the next few hours...

Liz and Jeff, what can I say? We love you guys for the couple that you are, for they way that you celebrate your love for each other, and for giving us such great inspiration for our work. Thank you for your vote of confidence in us time and time again.

Also, a huge thank you to all the vendors Liz & Jeff chose - your work together created an unforgettable wedding for us to photograph and we simply couldn't have done it without you.

Bridal Gown by La Belle Elaine's Bridal
Bridesmaid Gowns by Voletta Couture
Bridal Makeup by Shannon Mercil of Blush, Inc
Flowers by Flora Nova
Ceremony by Patricia of A Heavenly Ceremony
Live Ceremony Music by Daniel Kamas
Music by Sean Wheatley of Seattle Parties
Videography by Cory of Bogle Productions
Cake by Mike's Amazing Cakes
Getaway Car by British Motor Coach
Photography by yours truly

And a very special thank you to Holly and her staff at The Plateau Club in Sammamish. They did such an amazing job coordinating Liz & Jeff's wedding. Everything flowed seamless throughout the entire ceremony and reception, and everyone there was so friendly and helpful. Truly wonderful!

Liz's hot pink Guess shoes were a testament to the sassiness of the bride herself. Love you Liz!

I'm going to totally embarrass Jake here... I never call him out on the blog like this, but I just can't let these go without the proper credit he deserves.
These two shots of the groomsmen & groom are his...

Their First Look. By far, one of my favorite images of the day. Having their first look earlier in the day allowed us some time to get some fabulous shots of just the two of them before the wedding began.

Another great shot by Jake. He had the 200 2.0 to get some super buttery close ups that I just fell in love with.
washatkablog10.jpg
This one is his too...
washatkablog11.jpg
And this one...
washatkablog12.jpg
Yep, this one too... (another one of my all-time favorites!)

And this one...

He also grabbed this one of their first dance...

They've lived on the East Coast and the West Coast, but when it came time for their wedding they made plans to be married in Zandy's hometown of Bozeman, Montana. The perfect spot? The ski park where Jason proposed. While there was snow on the ground then, the Deer Park Chalet at Bridger Bowl made a perfect spot for an outdoor Summer ceremony.

Surrounded by bright green grass, and bathed in the warm afternoon sun, the Bride and Groom's first look was at the ceremony.

Jake had his lens on Jason as his bride walked down the aisle, and caught one of the most genuine and loving looks I have ever seen. A look that was meant just for her.

The night continued with a full Montana-style celebration with a live band and some of the fastest dancing I have ever seen. It was so entertaining, and we were so happy to be a part of it.

Zandy and Jason, we can't thank you enough for including us in your wedding. We are so happy you've moved back home and hope to see you lots and lots from now on!

___________
The night before the wedding, the Bride's sister hosted a BBQ at their home. Thunderstorms welcomed our flight into Bozeman, and as we drove to her home, a rainbow appeared. What a great way to start their wedding!

Annie and Jyun had one of the most intimate wedding ceremonies I have ever seen. Just the two of them, their two friends & witnesses, and enough love and excitement to warm a thousand person crowd, had there been one.

At a Japanese Shinto Shrine, these two declared their love, exchanged rings, and made secret promises to each other that no one else could hear. Annie, whose first language is French, even whispered hers in Japanese, Jyun's native language.

I felt so honored to be part of such a private ceremony. I knew these photos would travel the world reaching family and friends in Japan, Montreal, and everywhere in between so that everyone could enjoy Annie and Jyun's love story.

Custom designed wedding bands - inspired by the yin yang symbol...

The bride doing her cleansing ritual - everyone had to do this before entering the shrine. The trees look like a Bob Ross painting to me... "happy little trees"...

I loved this photos - out of nowhere, Annie grabbed Jyun's hand and exclaimed how excited she was to call him her husband. She was so excited, and it was so romantic. She was practically jumping up and down.

More than witnesses, Koki and Ayano are great friends of the bride and groom. Jyun and Koki  work together at Wellness One (a fantastic place for Acupuncture, Chiropractic care, and Massage).

After the ceremony, the celebrations continued at Bin Vivant, a new restaurant at the Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland.
