Perhaps the bride's choice of a vintage-style gown matched their relationship just perfectly. Timeless, classic, and always in style, she and Michael have been together almost their whole lives (yes, the Priest did make reference to their grade school days together).
Because this day was such a special celebration, they opted for a little more photography time and we were able to dedicate a portion of the day just for them. Enjoy some of the gorgeous details of their wedding below, including their exclusive photo shoot at the W Hotel.
And to the handsome couple... thank you so very, very much for allowing Jake & Shelley & I to document your wedding! I hope we've done you proud, and that these images are a warm welcome home from St. Lucia.

If not for you, then for us?
For some reason, people at weddings often confuse the photographers with wedding planners. I don't know why. We carry cameras, lenses, lighting... we even try to dress so that we blend in, just looking like guests with fancy cameras... Is it because we are near the bride and groom most of the day? Assuming that because we are near you, that we know what song the DJ is supposed to play for your first dance? That we know which tables are supposed to have the larger floral arrangements? Well, we don't. Not usually at least. I'm sorry. I don't mean to let you down. Jake and I are just so excited about doing our job that that is where we would prefer to keep our focus where we focus best, if you know what I mean.
Lucky for you, I have met some fantastic wedding planners in the industry. While I am sure your aunt, godmother, bridesmaid or cousin is a great multi-tasker and very organized, I highly recommend a professional. Somebody who has done this before, does this for a living, does this well, and is passionate about weddings.
I recently had the opportunity to meet with two fabulous women who meet this description in every way - Michelle Engvall (of Married & More with Michelle) and Lisa Chambers (of Chambers and Company).
They just moved into their cozy new office space in Greenlake. Literally, a half block from the grass and water. From the moment I walked in, I knew these two had fantastic attention to detail. They apologized for the "mess" as I snapped a few photos. Mess? What mess? Everything was neatly organized into their modern cube shelves, and even their desktops were clutter free. If this is how they manage their office space, I can only imagine how seamless your wedding will be!
Michelle and Lisa operate their two separate business from the same office because they are good friends, and because they love what they do. You could even splurge and hire them both to plan your wedding! So, please check out their websites and Michelle's blog to view the gorgeous weddings they have planned, and set up a meeting to find out more. Even if it's just to check out their swanky new office :)
Michelle and Lisa only select a limited number of weddings per year. Be sure to contact them soon so that they can help you with yours!

(03.10.09 @ 11:50 AM)We chose the fabulous Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom Magazine as the canvas for our very first full-page advertisement. Pick up your copy on stands now!
Well this is the reason that I'm at your website right now so it worked! :)
(04.27.09 @ 03:22 PM)I love, love, love experimenting with colors and textures. The Vintage look allows me to do just that. Sometimes I spend hours just deciding which looks go well with each photo, trying different looks until I come up with what I think works best. Here are some of my favorite wedding and engagement shots, with a special vintage treatment.

Joey!!! Your work is really amazing! Truly. xo
(01.22.09 @ 09:16 AM)Thanks for all the photo love Niki!!
(01.22.09 @ 12:22 PM)My Modern look is classified by a unique twist of color resulting in a mismatched date with reality. I have not had the opportunity to use this as often as I would like. You will see much more modern fun in 2009!
wow, i don't think i ever saw some of these...i love this style! the wedding one, with her wedding dress draped over the long couch...stunning! should be in a magazine...can you enter your photos into competitions? you would win! :)
(01.14.09 @ 09:06 PM)I am so impressed with your modern style! I'd love to know how you achieved this photoshop technique.
(01.19.09 @ 05:36 PM)Thanks Erin :) I know... I have been so bad at entering my photos. It is my goal this year to do just that! And Liz - each photo is done a little differently. There is a lot of play with brightness and shadows, as well as a slight desaturation or de"vibrance" in lightroom. Sometimes I use some actions to get a more specific coloring as well.
